OVERVIEW OF THE WEBINAR
Join us in our next webinar that focuses on batteries. We plan to have speakers from RISE, VTT, and VITO who will share their insights connected to sustainable production and recycling of batteries as well as how they can be tested prior to be used.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Robert Johansson, M.Sc. Industrial engineering and management, has a background in project management and started working at RISE 2020 in environmental durability with focus on the Battery Area. He started as a Research and development engineer in mainly battery projects working with mechanical and climatic properties and since 2023 he is Project manager and Business developer for the battery area within environmental durability at RISE. Since 2021 Robert has worked in the establishment project of the new Laboratory for safety critical testing for batteries in BorĂ¥s, Sweden.
Taina Rauhala is a Research Scientist in the Flexible Sensors and Devices Team at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. She joined VTT in September 2023 and specializes in sustainable battery materials research.
Prior to joining VTT, she was working on battery safety related topics at the Electrochemical Safety Research Institute at UL Research Institutes in the United States. She holds a doctorate in Chemistry from Aalto University in Finland, where her research focused on electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries and characterization of degradation mechanisms in lithium-ion cells. Taina earned her Doctor of Science degree in 2021 and holds Master of Science (2013) and Bachelor of Science (2012) degrees in Chemistry from Aalto University.
Dr. Ir. Liesbeth Horckmans graduated as an Environmental Engineer at the University of Leuven in 2002. After she obtained her PhD in Geology at the same university, she joined an engineering consultancy firm from 2008-2011. Since 2011, Liesbeth has been working at VITO as a researcher in the field of sustainable materials, focusing on the valorization of inorganic mineral waste streams to increase resource efficiency. Liesbeth has coordinated several national and international research projects, including ongoing HEU Carbon4Minerals and ERA-MIN CO2TREAT. She has been WP leader and partner in several other H2020 and EIT Raw Materials projects. Since 2016, Liesbeth is the Team leader of the Waste Recycling Technologies team at VITO. She is currently also project coordinator of a Flemish research project to upscale the CtS technology for battery sorting.
